Windy Days
It seems like I'm always talking about the weather, however it feels like we've had some strange weather patterns over the past month. Another cold snap, some rain & storms, but oh the wind!! Just this week as I'm walking out the front door I notice that one of our coops are floating about half a meter in the air! Luckily only on the one side, with all the chickens huddling in the opposite corner, the wind was tunneling through the front and lifted the side which was not weighed down. Thank goodness no chicks were injured but it was a hair-raising moment!
Slow Grown Beef
Weather affects us all on a daily basis, but more so us farmers. With the none to little rain we've been having (except for the rain last week), the grass has not been back as it normally would be, the result is that the cattle is not growing as they would normally do and is not up to weight yet. We'll not have beef products available for the end of October but it should all be ready by the end of November. I've kept the beef "in stock" on the website so that you can place orders for me to plan and allocate for November.
